JD and I went to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska last weekend. We bought a new tent earlier this year and thought we'd try it out. It's waterproof, but not "being struck by lightning" proof. Knowing this, we spent the first night at a motel! After hearing that our tent neighbors had to escape their leaky tent by sleeping in their boat, we were grateful to have spent the extra money to sleep indoors. Our tent is awesome though! It is big enough for us to stand up in and actually move around in. We camped right on the beach. We didn't realize that at Lake Mac, anyone can sleep on the beach and drive their car or RV or golf cart or really anything RIGHT ONTO THE BEACH and stay there. I was afraid that the people driving the golf cart at 3 am in front of our tent were going to run right into us!
This other picture is of the dam and the water it shoots into neighboring Lake Ogallala. JD loves dam pictures and dam water. He also loves dam irrigation -- which is how the farms downstream receive much needed water!
